Subject: NOTRA Research launch this Saturday is a GO! Plus NSL East Update!
The NOTRA Research launch scheduled on Saturday, July 13th is a GO!
The weather forecast is for a high temp of 85ºF, winds from the NW at 6-7 mph, 18% cloud cover at decreasing to 6%. The cloud deck will be at 2800 feet at 11AM. The chance of rain is only 2%. Bring water and sunscreen.
The launch will be held from 11AM until 5PM.
There will be a $10.00 Range fee for high-power fliers. Low-power fliers pay just $5.00. Families pay just $5.00.
You don’t have to be a TRA, NAR, NOTRA or Skybusters member to fly model rockets as a guest.
This will be a NOTRA Research launch and conducted under the Tripoli Rocketry Association Research Safety Code. All Tripoli and NAR members are welcome to fly as both Commercial and Research motors can be flown up to the individual members certification level. You must be at least a TRA L2 to fly Research motors. TRA members may also fly uncertified commercial motors or motors that have had their certification expire. The waiver altitude is 4800 feet.
You must be at least a TRA L2 to fly Research motors. TRA members may also fly uncertified commercial motors or motors that have had their certification expire.
There is an L motor limit. We no longer provide hybrid motor support. If you want to fly hybrids, you need to bring all the ground support equipment you’ll need.
We will have three high-power pads set up with 3/8” and 7/16” rods along with 1” & 1.5” rails. The Skybusters 6-pad model rocket rack will be set up with 1/8” and 3/16” rods. There will be two high-power pads set up half-way to the HP pads and equipped with a 6 foot long 1/4″ rod and a 1010 rail. These are for E, F and G powered rockets that don’t need the HP pads.
Please consider arriving a bit early and staying after the launch to help with set-up and tear down. And please bring bags for any trash you might generate during the launch. Trash containers will be set up at the launch pads and range head.
There will be a Porta-Potty at this launch this season. However there will be no food or motor vendors on site.
Any Tripoli member who wishes to do a TRA certification flight or take the Level 2 certification test please contact me beforehand. Motors for a L1 certification flight can be obtained from me. NAR certification flights can also be done.

Subject: Rocket kits available for sale at Saturdays launch
Because of the popularity of the “Almost Complete Ready to Build” kits that we had for sale at the After-Holiday Party, we’ve put together a couple of 4″ and 5.38″ kits that you are sure to love. Everything you need to complete the kit (except your fins, shock cord and parachute) is included. They include electronic bays and internal parts, rail guides and AeroPac motor retainers.
For more info, see the attached PDF. The ones at the party went fast! We’ve only got two of each so get there early!
